Shenseea

Shenseea was born Chinsea Linda Lee at Mandeville Hospital in Manchester Parish, Jamaica, to a Jamaican mother and a South Korean father from whom she is estranged, giving her Jamaican-Korean heritage. Her family moved to Kingston when she was about three. She was introduced early on to Kingston entertainment promoter Romeich Major, who signed her as one of his promotional models before recognizing her musical potential.

Her breakthrough came via a remix of Vybz Kartel's hit 'Loodi,' after which she performed on a side stage at Reggae Sumfest in 2015, graduating to the festival's main stage by 2017. She signed with Interscope Records in 2019 and released the crossover single 'Blessed' featuring Tyga. Her profile expanded via the 2020 Tarrus Riley collaboration 'Lighter' and her 2021 guest feature alongside Roddy Ricch on Kanye West's 'Pure Souls' from 'Donda,' which entered the Billboard Hot 100 and earned her a Grammy Album of the Year nomination as a featured artist.

Shenseea's catalog includes the studio albums 'Alpha' (2022), which peaked at number 2 on Billboard's Top Reggae Albums chart, and 'Never Gets Late Here' (2024), which earned a Grammy nomination for Best Reggae Album. Major collaborations include Christina Aguilera, Sean Paul, Megan Thee Stallion, Calvin Harris, and Mariah Carey. In July 2026 she became the first Jamaican female artist to reach number 1 on Billboard's Latin Airplay chart, with 'Echo,' a collaboration with Daddy Yankee.

At the 2025 Caribbean Music Awards, Shenseea was named Female Dancehall Artist of the Year for a second consecutive year, leading the entire ceremony with five wins. As of mid-2026 she continues active releases and collaborations, cementing her role as dancehall's most prominent ambassador to global pop audiences and the clearest example of a Jamaican dancehall artist achieving sustained U.S. and international mainstream crossover.
