Byron Messia

Byron Messia was born in Kingston, Jamaica, and moved to St. Kitts and Nevis at two months old, growing up there rather than in Jamaica. He has described being drawn to dancehall in part through hearing artist Masicka's music constantly played by high school friends.

He gained mainstream recognition in 2023 with the single "Talibans," from his album No Love, which became a breakout hit across the Caribbean and internationally. The song's success led Nigerian star Burna Boy to record a remix, "Talibans II," which became the first song by a Saint Kitts and Nevis artist to reach the Billboard Hot 100.

No Love drew on Messia's personal story, including his experience as a Jamaican-born artist raised in St. Kitts and Nevis, and earned him public co-signs from artists including Drake, Cardi B, Chris Brown, A Boogie Wit da Hoodie, and Popcaan.

As one of the youngest and most recently emerged artists on the contemporary dancehall scene, Messia's career and public biography remain in early stages, with his catalogue and profile still developing since his 2023 breakthrough.
