Chronixx

Jamar McNaughton is the son of singer Selvin McNaughton, known professionally as Chronicle, who nurtured his musical development from an early age; McNaughton reportedly wrote his first song, "Rice Grain," at age five. His stage name evolved from the childhood nickname "Little Chronicle."

He emerged in the early 2010s as a central figure of the Reggae Revival, a movement of young roots-oriented artists — including Protoje, Jah9, Jesse Royal, and Kabaka Pyramid, among others — who returned to consciousness-driven, live-instrumentation reggae in contrast to the digital dancehall that had dominated Jamaican popular music for decades.

His 2014 Dread & Terrible EP topped the Billboard Reggae Album chart and the iTunes reggae charts in the UK and Japan, establishing him internationally before the release of his full-length debut, Chronology, in 2017. Chronology received a Grammy nomination for Best Reggae Album at the 60th Annual Grammy Awards in 2018.

Chronixx has continued to release music and tour internationally in the years since, remaining one of the most commercially and critically prominent reggae artists of his generation and a central voice connecting contemporary Jamaican music to its roots traditions.
