Moyann

Moyann, born Moyann Montique, grew up in Montego Bay, Jamaica, and attended Irwin High School before enrolling at the Caribbean Maritime University in Kingston to study logistics. During her sophomore year she left her studies to pursue music full-time, a decision she has described in interviews as a leap of faith taken after years of writing and performing informally.

In 2017 she sent a demo to producer DJ Frass, who signed her to DJ Frass Records the following year. She emerged on the national dancehall scene in 2018 with "Netflixxx and Chill," a single released as part of a DJ Frass riddim project that also featured established acts such as Alkaline, Mavado, and Stefflon Don — an unusually high-profile launching pad for a new artist. The exposure helped position her quickly among a cohort of younger dancehall vocalists gaining attention in Jamaica's video and radio charts.

Moyann followed her debut with a string of singles and collaborations, including "Backseat" (which drew well over 800,000 views for its audio release), "Too Good" featuring Intence, "No Bruk Pocket Man" featuring Teejay, "Don't Wanna Lose You" with Jahmiel, and "No Limit" alongside Shenseea, who publicly credited spotting Moyann's potential early. By August 2021, DancehallMag was profiling her as a potential breakout star, noting her presence on Jamaica's video charts and a widening catalogue that mixed party anthems with more personal, storytelling-driven material.

Beyond music, Moyann has been noted in Jamaican entertainment press for her fashion sense, including a 2021 apparel brand partnership reported by the Jamaica Star, and has continued to release music and build her profile through the early 2020s, as tracked in later Jamaica Gleaner coverage of her career trajectory.
