Pinchers

Delroy Thompson, known professionally as Pinchers, is a Jamaican dancehall singjay who made his first hits in 1986 with "Borrow No Gun," released through producer King Jammy, followed by "Abrakabra," "Eat Man," and "Jailhouse Hot." He achieved wider fame in 1987 with "Agony," a lover's lament filled with evocative imagery, produced by King Jammy for the album of the same name.

In 1990 Pinchers released "Bandelero," which became his best-known and most enduring single; the track later featured on the soundtrack of the Jamaican crime film Shottas. He continued releasing music through the early 1990s, including "Carpenter," "Call Upon Mi God," and "Cross Them Bridge" in 1993.

Thompson has recorded and performed less prolifically in recent decades, though he continues to perform live and is known for elaborate stage outfits. His son Kemar Thompson has continued the family's musical legacy performing as Jr. Pinchers. In January 2015, Thompson was shot in the arm during an attack in Queenborough, Jamaica, in which two other men were killed.
