D'Angel

D'Angel, born Michelle Downer on April 1, 1978, in Spanish Town, St. Catherine, Jamaica, worked as an international model through the 1990s before returning home to Jamaica in 2002 to pursue music. She holds an associate degree in accounting and management and is the daughter of local entrepreneur Noel 'Clive' Downer.

She considers 2004 and 2005 her breakout years in dancehall, going on to be named Singjay of the Year at the 2008 EME Awards. Her recorded output includes the 2017 collaboration with Spice, "No Worries," the single "Stronger," and "Whipped" (2017), released as a response to Dexta Daps's "Owner."

D'Angel's public profile was substantially shaped by her marriage to fellow dancehall star Beenie Man in 2006, with whom she recorded the single "One Man" and had a son; the couple separated in 2010, reconciled in 2011, and later divorced. In 2013 she received a five-year performance ban from the Sting stage show following an on-stage lyrical exchange with Ninjaman that organizers judged inappropriate. She toured the United States in 2017 under the banner 'We Can Survive.'
