Tony Matterhorn

Dufton Lafton Taylor, known as Tony Matterhorn, was born on 13 March 1972 in Kingston, Jamaica. His stage name is drawn from Matterhorn, a brand of cigarettes sold in Jamaica. He got his start in the sound system world in the early 1990s on Inner City Sound System before joining King Addies in Brooklyn, New York, working alongside selector Babyface.

After leaving Addies in 1998 to launch his own sound, Matterhorn went on to win a series of major international sound clashes, including World Clash Jamaica and the UK Cup Clash, establishing himself as one of the most accomplished selectors of his generation.

Matterhorn later crossed over into deejaying, and his 2006 single "Dutty Wine" became both a chart hit and a widely imitated — and, in some jurisdictions, controversial — dance craze, cementing his crossover recognition beyond the sound system circuit.
