Full biography
Damion Darrel Warren, known professionally as Teacha Dee, is a Jamaican reggae singer and former educator from Westmoreland, Jamaica. His stage name combines the Jamaican Creole word for "teacher" with his childhood nickname "Deemus."
He was a full-time employee of Jamaica's Ministry of Education, Youth and Culture at the time he recorded his best-known singles, "Smoke and Fly," "Reggae Souljahs," and "Smuggling Weed," which built his reputation as a conscious reggae voice balancing a day job in public service with a recording career.
In October 2011, immediately following his first tour, Teacha Dee released his debut album, Reggae Souljahs: Beating Babylon With Music, cementing his transition into a full-time music career.
