Tami Chynn

Tami Chynn, born Tammar Annika Chin on June 14, 1983, in Kingston, Jamaica, is a singer, songwriter, and dancer who began her career as a backup dancer for Shaggy. Her father, Richard Chin, is of Jamaican and Chinese descent, and her mother, Christine Chin, is of English and African descent; her younger sister, Tessanne Chin, is also a singer and won the fifth season of the US competition The Voice.

In May 2005, at age 24, Chynn signed a four-album deal with Universal Motown Records, releasing her debut album, Out of Many...One, on August 7, 2006, through Universal Motown and SRC Records. The album spawned the internet hit "Hyperventilating" and reached number 41 on Japan's Oricon chart. In 2008 she joined Akon's Konvict Muzik label and released "Frozen," featuring Akon, which reached number 3 on the US Dance Club Play chart.

She has collaborated with major reggae and dancehall figures including Beenie Man, Lady Saw, and Sean Paul, appearing on Paul's "All on Me" from The Trinity, and wrote "Hypnotico," later recorded by Jennifer Lopez for the 2011 album Love?. She married dancehall artist Wayne Marshall in 2009, and the couple have children together; she has also managed her sister Tessanne's career and co-created the Anuna fashion collection in 2010.
