Sasha

Sasha, also performing as Sista Sasha, born Christine Chin in Kingston, Jamaica, in 1974, was raised in Queens, New York City, and became a prominent female voice in dancehall during the late 1990s and early 2000s.

In 1998 she wrote and released "Dat Sexy Body," built on a variation of the "Bookshelf" riddim. The song became a sleeper hit, not reaching significant chart success in the United States until roughly five years after its release, when it climbed to number 78 on the Billboard R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart in 2003; it was later remixed with reggaeton artist Ivy Queen.

Her biggest hit came via collaboration: "I'm Still in Love with You" with fellow Jamaican artist Sean Paul, drawn from his internationally successful Dutty Rock era. In 2008, Sasha became a Christian, adopted a new stage name, and stated she would no longer perform the songs that had made her famous, effectively closing the dancehall chapter of her career.
