Garrison Hawk

Garrison Hawk, also performing as "Hawkman," was born in Mandeville, Jamaica, on 23 October 1978. He moved with his family to the Bronx, New York, as a teenager, where he developed a hybrid singing and rapping style shaped by both Jamaican sound system culture and New York hip-hop.

He began performing on local sound systems and, in the late 1990s, shared stages with dancehall veterans Shabba Ranks and Super Cat during an East Coast tour. He is best known for his work on English trip-hop artist Tricky's 2001 album Blowback, and that same year he contributed a rap verse to the introduction of Tool's "Reflection" while touring with Tricky.

Following a series of underground singles, Garrison Hawk received airplay on New York's Hot 97 and broke onto club charts in Europe. He has continued performing and releasing dancehall material in subsequent years, including further work covered by the Jamaica Gleaner in the early 2020s.
